![]() ![]() He removes the compliments from her box affecting her self-confidence. He tries to use a class project to sabotage her. When Hannah refuses to go out with Zach he gets revenge. It looks like he has kept a tally of those on the tapes, or those who picked on him. He also has Bryce, Sheri, Justin, Clay and Marcus. ![]() We see him developing photos and he takes down a photo of Alex that was hanging up. In the deposition he tells them that there are a set of tapes. We see that he has a stash of weapons, including guns. Tyler is fed up by season one, he's also being bullied. Hannah now looks like she kissed her and is bullied for that too. Later he takes pictures of her and Courtney when they kiss leading to more issues as Courtney lies about what happened. She hears the click of the shutter but doesn't know it's him, at least not at first. Angry he goes to her house and ends up taking photos of her while she gets changed. When the picture Justin took of Hannah gets out, Tyler tries to talk to her but says the wrong thing. He sets up a photoshoot, he sees she's been crying but doesn't ask why. Seeing her getting bullied he stepped in and offered to take her photo. He liked Hannah, but she wasn't interested. Tyler is the peeping tom of the tapes - Tape 4. Season two sees Alex back, but with memory loss. We saw an ambulance with a male in it racing to hospital, but we didn't see what Alex did or what happened. He was on the tapes because he, Jessica and Hannah were friends until they fell out over his and Jessica's relationship. Throughout season one he pushed the others to speak out about the tapes, none of them saw the signs that he was depressed and struggling. The principal tells Mr Porter that Alex shot himself and is in a critical condition. We don't see Alex in the final season one episode, but we see a text from Zach asking him to call. Clay needs him to help get the truth out. ![]() Season two sees Justin in a homeless squat, staying away from the town. He knows the truth now, and Bryce knows it. Justin admits he skipped his deposition but he does tell Bryce about the tapes. He meets with Bryce who gives him alcohol. He asks her what she wants, offering to kill Bryce. Justin admits to Jess he nearly acted on his suicidal thoughts, but didn't because of her. He was physically assaulted by him, packed his bags and left home. Justin has no place to live at the end of season one, he's been at odds with his mother's boyfriend throughout the season. It leads to the pupils bullying her and thinking she's willing to sleep with other guys. He takes a photo on his phone of her on the slide in a playground making people think that she slept with him. Justin dates Hannah briefly, but it doesn't end well. ![]() She later tells her dad "Something happened to me." Justin In her deposition for the lawsuit she says boys "do things to girls that no one talks about" but doesn't expand on it. She says she doesn't want the tapes burnt but can't speak out. Clay gives her a choice, to destroy the tapes or go to the authorities about it. She had turned to alcohol to deal with what's happening but by the end episode she has stopped this. She knows that Justin did nothing to stop Bryce sexually assaulting her at the party and then he lied about it. Hannah sees what happens from the closet.īy the end of the season Jessica's relationship with Justin has blown up. She seeks help and talks to Mr Porter, the school counselor, revealing she's depressed.īut at a party Bryce comes into her room and ends up raping her. The final tape has Hannah saying she's going to "give it once last try". Each tape focuses on a reason why she took her life, each is aimed at a person.Īs so much happened, here's a recap. He tries to understand why she took her own life, aided by 13 tapes she left behind. The first season showed Clay at Liberty High School as he dealt with the death of the girl he loved, Hannah Baker. Mental health experts, however, weren't so keen saying it was irresponsible showing graphic scenes and people not opening up about their issues. It was a window into a teen mind and their struggles. The series caused a lot of controversy, from it's graphic depiction of suicide to it's representation of rape.Įxecutive producer Selena Gomez said the show kicked off conversations about mental health as well as sexual assault, bullying and other sensitive topics.
